How RenterScore works

RenterScore brings renter ratings into one 0–100 score. Confidence tells you how much review history sits behind it.

The short version

  • Recent reviews matter more than older ones.
  • Confirmed residency gives us more confidence in a review.
  • The property and its management are scored separately.

What a badge means

A verification badge means we checked account and residency evidence. It doesn't mean we independently proved every statement in the review.

Which reviews are included

Published reviews from confirmed residents carry more influence. Reviews from signed-in renters without residency proof carry less. Reviews being checked or disputed don't change the score during that review.

How recency works

In this demo, a review's influence falls by half after 24 months.

When a score appears

We wait for at least three published renter reviews. Medium confidence starts at five reviews. High confidence currently requires at least 12 reviews, with at least 65% from confirmed residents.

A method we'll keep testing

These are provisional demo rules, not scientific findings. We'll test and refine them before launch.

Businesses can't pay to remove reviews or improve their score.
